Description:
U-Haul is seeking a Documentation Specialist with Technical Writing and Business Analytics background. This candidate will play a key role within the business, creating internal documentation for the primary purpose of translating customer, and other business-defined, needs into various written work products that can be used by software developers and software testing teams, to continually improve the organization’s electronic tools. As a U-Haul Documentation / Technical Writer, you will take complex technical concepts and communicate them clearly as standard operating procedures. You will gather information on business processes for purposes of translating business needs into technical documentation, business rules, and functional business requirements. Your work will be primarily used to guide software development and software testing. Juggling multiple projects and driving their successful and timely completion is essential. You will work across teams to collect information, distill and clarify this information, and produce complete documentation that is both easy to follow and easy to use for various audiences. The qualified candidate will:

• Create documentation for new and existing business processes and procedures, including but not limited to business rules, functional requirements, and technical requirements.
• Develop user guides for business units, field personnel, software developers, and quality assurance.
• Work with Business Units to assess efficacy of existing applications and assist with development and enhancements for existing and future platforms.
• Be a self-starter that has technical savvy to learn new internal products, systems, and tools.
• Work with subject matter experts, quality assurance, and software developers to ensure quality, technical accuracy, and completeness.
• Work on multiple projects from conception to completion.
• Coordinate and lead meetings with subject matter experts and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with developers, test engineers, and product management to gain an understanding of products, systems, and tools that need technical requirements, business rules, or user guides.
• Capture necessary graphics or data for documentation by using screen shots, photos, process flow charts, diagrams, and charts.
• Organize material and complete writing assignments according to set standards.
Requirements:
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to achieve consensus.
• Ability to quickly grasp complex technical data and explain in non-technical terms.
• Ability to work in fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
• Experience with project management practices, Confluence, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Have strong communication and time management skills—the ability to balance high-quality work standards against time constraints.

Education/Training:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in communications, journalism, technical illustration and documentation, or related fields, with 1+ years preferred in a Software Development organization.
