U-Haul is looking for a Human Resources Workplace Solutions Specialist who is a career-minded, growth-oriented individual and will make a real impact on our daily operations.

This position is responsible for partnering with managers and employees to diagnose and resolve employee issues in a manner consistent with polices, procedures and state and federal laws. Provides support in all areas of employee relations and investigations and administers company-wide employment policies and practices.

A few of the duties and accountabilities assigned to the position are:

Employee Relations: Build positive working relationships with managers and employees. Consult with department managers, supervisors and employees on the company policies and procedures and federal and state legislation as applicable; discuss and resolve employee problems, counsel with employees and supervisors concerning performance and disciplinary matters; review and make recommendations as to employment issues. Identify trends and recommend solutions to create a positive and respectful work environment.

Policy/Procedures: Assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures. Interpret and communicate Company HR policies and procedures to align with and support the company’s desired culture.

Employee Investigation: Assist in internal employment issues, and make recommendations to resolve in accordance with Company policies, practices and procedures. Also, investigate and prepare written responses to external governmental agency claims of discrimination.

Training: Develop training courses and make presentation to managers and employees on a variety of employment law topics.

Compliance: Ensure compliance with/and consistent application of internal policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations.

Confidential Information: Maintain confidential information, which includes, but is not limited to: health records and participant personal and income information.
  • Extensive working knowledge of employment laws, employee/labor relations, coaching/counseling supervisors and employees, and conducting internal investigations
  • Ability to handle sensitive data
  • Ability to learn new tasks quickly and efficiently
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail Oriented
  • Proficiency with personal computer, such as Microsoft Office and Open Office; and accurate data management, documentation and recordkeeping skills.
  • Bilingual a plus
  • Education/Training:
    * Bachelors degree in a field related to Human Resources or Management or minimum of 3-5 years of progressive Human Resources Generalist experience
