Part-Time Staff Accountant

Oxford Life Insurance Company

    Oxford Life Insurance, a division of U-Haul International, is seeking a talented Staff Accountant to work part-time for the Financial Reporting Department of Oxford. This position will work closely with the Senior Accountant and take their day-to-day direction from the Controller.
    Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist in preparation of income statements and balance sheet support for business product lines. Identify significant events and/or trends.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual statutory financial statements along with state-specific filings.
  • Review, verify and post interfaced monthly insurance activity from sub-ledgers to general ledger.
  • Perform other accounting duties, such as suspense account reconciliations, journal entry posting, intercompany accounting, agent balances, bank reconciliations, etc., as assigned.
  • Assist in preparation of audit schedules for internal/dependent auditors.
  • Conduct and perform analysis for specific projects.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned, providing support to all other functional areas of the company as needed.
  • Continually strive to provide the highest level of customer service, both internally and externally.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 1+ years of experience in the role of General Staff or Tax Accountant preferred
  • Experience in related areas of Life insurance, reconciliation accounting and reporting preferred
  • Understanding of the GAAP and Statutory concepts preferred
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office products with an emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint
  • General ledger operational knowledge required
  • Self-starter with hands-on learning ability
  • Effectively communicate with customers inside and outside of the organization
