Robotic Weld Engineer

Robotic Welding Engineer Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide robotic programming, training, and support for the operation of 11 ABB robotic welding cells
  • Provide the technical expertise required for integration, programming, assistance, and service of robotic cells, including planning/writing of code
  • Recommend measures to improve manufacturing methods and quality of finished product
  • Give direction to weld technicians, training, and the selection, and cost justification of equipment, and have overall ownership of all robotic welding activities in the plant.
  • Assist the Manufacturing Engineering Manager to solve shop floor problems to improve quality and increase efficiency
  • Review new product designs to determine the appropriate fixturing and identify potential programming issues that may arise
  • Maintain spare parts inventory, oversee routine maintenance for associated equipment and fixtures
  • Understand, support, and implement the company Housekeeping, Safety and Quality policies and procedures into daily work habits

Robotic Welding Engineer Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school offering specialized robotic training
  • High degree of mechanical aptitude
  • Able to communicate in English
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Knowledge and experience using GMAW processes
  • Able to read and interpret prints
  • Able to pass measurement and fraction/decimal conversion tests
  • Minimum 2-5 years automation/robotic experience a plus, ABB preferred
  • Able to responsibly handle confidential information

Work Environment: The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g. working around moving parts, machines, fumes, or irritant chemicals. May be required to use protective cloth
