Carpenter
U-Haul’s Building Management is currently seeking a well-rounded Carpenter to join our fast-paced team. The Carpenter’s goal is to maintain, repair and renovate the building & common areas to the best possible condition. To meet the duties of this occupation, the Carpenter must have a professional appearance and demeanor, and a good overall knowledge of all trades, from Carpentry, tiling, painting and drywalling.
Must be able to use a wide range of hand and power tools such as saws and nail guns, and basic hand tools such as a hammer, framing square, and tape measure, also must understand use and maintenance of all trade specific tools and equipment.
Construct building frameworks, including walls, floors and doorframes.
Hang a variety of items such as TV mounts, pictures, etc.
Ensure tools and equipment are in working order and keep all work areas in neat condition.
Install hanger wire, grid, and other suspension systems for ceiling tile and other materials.
Install floor and wall tile.
Have a solid grasp of complex mathematical concepts in basic math functions and calculations.
Help with non-carpentry team projects as needed.
Qualifications:
5+ years in carpentry work
Strong project management and communication skills.
Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic.
Complies with all PPE standards and is aware of all safety practices, follows established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
Have a good eye for details and be able to check that the work is level, plumb, and square.
Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
Willing to learn new skills.
Must be flexible to multi-task.
Must have a valid AZ driver's license.
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects such as frame lumber, sheets of drywall and other building material.
