The Tooling Specialist's responsibilities include using existing skills in fabrication, machining and welding to build fixtures, gauges, and other specialty products in support of the plant's production requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support metalworking projects from planning and fabrication through assembly, inspection, and testing, using knowledge of machine functions, metal properties, and mathematics.
- Fabricate fixtures, tooling, and experimental parts to meet special engineering needs.
- Utilize various instruments including micrometers, squares, and vernier calipers.
- Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials into machines.
- Select the appropriate tools, materials, and machines to be used in preparation of machinery work.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Set up and operate metalworking, brazing, heat-treating, welding, & cutting equipment
- Ability to program computers and electronic instruments (such as numerically controlled machine tools).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and design schematics.
- Ability to calculate dimensions and tolerances.
- In-depth knowledge of machine tools.
- Ability to confer with engineering, supervisory, and manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information.
- Team oriented; work hard-play hard mindset.
- Regular attendance is essential.
