U-Box Data Engineer Spring Intern
This internship will start on February 2nd and will run for 12+ weeks.
The position pays $17 an hour and is onsite at our Midtown Campus in Phoenix, AZ.
About the Internship:
As a member of the U-Box team, you will help build data solutions that solve reporting needs related to the heart of our U-Box business, including transactional data, customer data, operational data, asset management data, and revenue/expense data. You will help build custom visualizations to gain insight into the business and provide feedback to business owners. You will also participate in building ETL solutions that contribute to clean data sources for others to consume. This role is critical in transforming our raw data into intuitive data sources for others to consume and make data-driven business decisions.
This role will require you to have shown data platform experience, knowledge of joining multiple related data sources and data warehouse architecture. You will work in collaboration with analysts on the U-Box team to identify and clearly define their reporting needs to help design, develop and implement data sources on existing BI platforms by leveraging years of untapped business data.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with reporting team(s) to help define, design and develop business-critical data sources, ETLs, data warehouses to satisfy analytics needs
- Extract, transform, and clean a large volume of data before publishing for Analyst consumption
- Generate reports with scripts
- Analyze business needs on homegrown U-Box applications, document existing database infrastructure, define and propose solutions to support business application scalability
- Guide others on the adoption of BI reporting technologies, advise on good design practices
- Architect data platforms, build data models, implement machine learning processes
- Own your projects, with a focus on robust automation
- Design/implementing reporting solutions with Tableau, Salesforce, Spyder
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited degree program (computer science, software engineering, information systems, data science or related field)
- Passionate about data engineering and data science and eager to learn
- Strong foundation of relational databases
- Familiarity with BI Visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Databricks) preferred, but not required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
